The Fort Apache Army Food Token (typically carrying a face value of $2.00) is a widely recognized piece of exonumia, but it holds a unique status among collectors: it is classified as a "fantasy token" rather than an authentic piece of military or government-issued currency. A fantasy token is an item manufactured long after the era it claims to represent, created purely as a novelty item, theatrical prop, or fictional souvenir. Composition: Struck in solid brass, though occasional white-metal or "silvered" fantasy trade token variations exist. Diameter: Measures approximately 29.5 mm (roughly 1-3/16 inches) from point to point. [1, 2]
